01

What we collect

Your email address (to sign you in), your handle and display name, the catches you log (species, size, time, photo if you add one, and the tide, moon and weather reading the app had for your spot at the moment you saved), and the exact spot of a catch if you record it. Photos are re-encoded on your device before upload, which strips camera metadata including embedded GPS. If you sign in with Google, Google passes us your email address, name and profile picture and nothing else. If you sign in with Apple, Apple passes us your email address (or a private relay address if you hide it) and your name, and nothing else.

02

What stays private by default

Your catches and their locations are yours alone unless you share them. The exact GPS point of a catch is stored separately from the post and is never visible to anyone else unless you put the pin on the public map yourself. Waypoints you save on the map never leave your device.

03

What is public when you choose it

Sharing a catch to the Wharf shows it to signed-in anglers. Making a catch mark public puts the real pin on the public map with species, date and your handle. Filing a croc or shark report puts that mark, with your handle, on the map for everyone, signed in or not. Your profile (handle, display name, avatar) is visible to signed-in anglers.

04

Services that do the work

Your account and data live in Supabase, our database and sign-in provider. A photo you scan with the AI Analyser is sent to Google's Gemini API to identify the fish and is not used for anything else by us. Purchases run through the app stores and RevenueCat; we never see card numbers. Forecasts come from Open-Meteo and tide and sighting data from state services: coordinates rounded to about a kilometre are sent for weather, and no account information goes with them. Map tiles come from OpenFreeMap, which learns only which area of the map you are looking at. Asking for directions to a spot sends your position and the destination to the OpenStreetMap routing service, and the roads on that route to Overpass to find the traffic lights; neither receives anything about your account.

Your account and catches are stored in Sydney. Google and Apple (United States) and the European weather, map tile and routing services run outside Australia and receive only what this section describes.

05

Deleting your account

Profile, then Delete account removes your account, your catches, your photos and your reports. It is immediate and permanent.

Wet hands, quick photo, back she goes. Keep what you'll eat, leave the rest, and stay croc-wise up north. The Dex counts a release the same as a keeper.
