244 species with a card each, earned by logging a catch. Rules for every state, dated and linked to the official source. Bite windows, tides and weather for the spot you are standing on.
FishermanDex is a field guide crossed with a catch-them-all game. Every species you can legally target in this country has a card in your Dex, earned only on the water. Behind each card sits the real stuff: legal size and bag limits for your state, the bite window for your spot, and the rig and knot that land it. You don't need to know any of that yet. Starting from zero is what the Dex is for.
Free forever: rules, safety alerts, your catch log, the Wharf.
On the web today. Coming to the App Store and Google Play.
SIX OF 244 · ONE JOKER IN THE DECK
Every species starts face-down in your binder as a grey silhouette, and no amount of money turns one over. Land the fish, photograph it, and the card reveals with its full art and rarity. Catch by catch, you unlock your species progress for the whole of Australian water, and your Dex ends up a fishing diary that reads like a collection.
Every species sits in your binder as a mystery slot until you land one.
Photograph the catch. The Analyser names the species, estimates the length from what is in frame and pre-fills the entry. You check it and save.
The card reveals with its art and rarity. A legendary's frame only goes gold once you have caught one, and the foil is yours for good.
From then on the card carries your personal best and how far up the species' trophy ladder it sits. The card changes every time you beat it.
BLACK MARLIN, BEFORE AND AFTER THE CATCH OF YOUR LIFE
Rarity is set by how hard a fish is to find and land in Australian water, not by how much we like it. Common cards come home on your first estuary session. Legendaries take a season and a bit of luck. There is exactly one joker, and you don't want to meet it.
A logged catch is never just a tick. Every card carries game stats and a trophy ladder, and the app keeps score of everything else you do on the water.
TYPICAL 50–90 CM · GOOD 100 CM · TROPHY 120 CM
Every card is scored on how hard the fish pulls, how easily it spooks, and how good it is on a plate. The scores come from the research, not from vibes, and where nothing is known the bar stays empty instead of guessing.
Your PB stamps the plate, with how far up the species' trophy benchmark it sits. A 90 cm Murray Cod and a metrey are different cards.
Seasonal batches of targets to hunt, with XP for the ones you land. The deck decides what is worth chasing this month; you decide where.
The map keeps score of the water you have actually fished. Squares light up as you cover them, and the blank ones start to look like invitations.
Your gear locker climbs from Brokie through Weekend Warrior to Baller as the collection grows. Its own economy, worth nothing, bragged about constantly.
Legal size, bag limit and closed season for the state you're standing in, researched from the official rules. Every figure shows its source and the date we last checked it.

Croc sightings from Queensland's own feed and WA's live shark detections, marked where you fish, each one aged to the day.
Croc-country warnings, closed waters and marine park zones sit in the free app. Nobody should have to pay to know where not to stand.
Every species has times it actually feeds. The Dex lines those up against the tide, the moon and the sun for the exact spot you're standing on, and tells you when to wet a line.
Built from real tide, moon and sun times for your exact spot, matched against the hours each species feeds. It's a forecast, not a guarantee: some afternoons the fish just aren't having it.
Rod, reel, line, leader and rig per species, and a source behind every line of it. Walk into the tackle shop already knowing what to buy. The card below is the app's own Mangrove Jack advice, word for word.
Every line links its source in the app. Where the advice is contested, and plenty of it is, the card says so instead of picking a winner.

The FG knot joins your braided main line to a heavier monofilament or fluorocarbon leader. Its slim, weave-style profile slips through rod guides cleanly, which makes it a favourite with sport fishing skippers in Australia and overseas.
Hold the fish up, take the photo. The Analyser names the species, estimates the length from what is in frame, holds it against your state's size limits and pre-fills the entry, before the fish goes back. Estimates are estimates: you check the number and save. You never have to guess what you just caught.
SAMPLE SCAN · HOLD STILLBelow a confidence threshold it stops guessing and hands you a short list to pick from. A wrong call never writes itself into your log, and you can correct any entry later.
Species, length, spot, tide, gear and the photo, exportable any time, and free forever whether or not you buy the Full Dex.
Put a brag mat or any known reference in frame and the estimate tightens. No reference, and it says "estimate" and means it.
Everything that keeps you legal and safe is free and stays free. The collection, the timing and the tackle advice are what you pay for.
Australian waters are live. The app stores and American waters come next, then partners in the tackle shop.
244 species with a card each, earned by logging a catch. Rules for every state, dated and linked to the official source. Bite windows, tides and weather for the spot you are standing on.
FishermanDex is coming to the App Store and Google Play. Same account, same Dex, with the whole roster and every state rule bundled on the phone so it works with no reception.
The Dex crosses the Pacific. American species get their own cards, with rules in inches and pounds, licences by state, NOAA tides and river flow on the chart.
Safety marks are built the honest way: range, recent sightings, angler reports and the authority's own channel. Never a feed we made up.
Gear recommendations come from published research and never change for money. Beside them we will add a clearly labelled partner pick, buy links to tackle retailers, and partnerships with local shops.
